Best way to remove old hair color?

I am a natural dirty blond. I have dyed my hair a few times. first time a dark dark brown. Then I dyed it a dark redish brown, then I tried to dye it medium brown with blond highlights but that turned out very bad. the brown didn't even come through and the blond streaks were orangish. So then I died it a medium brown all over. Well it looked ok for a second. Now its all different kinds of brown, so I need to know what hair dye remover to use, because I just want to be blond again. I can not afford to go to a professional.

you might try a shampoo cap, that would strip it off some, but have to be very careful, that is bleach and shampoo.if you leave it on to long it will get to the red stage.my advice just use a frost and tip kit, give it a lot of high lights. hair dresser from mississippi

The best advice I can give you is to save your money and go to a professional colorist. You have processed your hair so many times that if you attempt to "strip" the color out to obtain desireable blonde results, your hair will likely hydrolize, or, MELT. You cannot afford to continue coloring your hair at home!

I used a 8-10 wash dye on my hair and it wouldn't come out. I called the drug store and talked to the cosmetician and she told me to use hot oil treatments and ORIGINAL head %26amp; shoulders shampoo. I tried the hot oil and it did take SOME of the colour out but not all. I didn't try the head %26amp; shoulders but I do know that it opens your hair shaft. I have heard that if you leave it on for a long time, you can "perm" your hair with it (my hair dresser told me that) so you can try soaking in H%26amp;S for a while and if it opens the shaft, maybe the dye will come out. Good luck!

You'll need a color remover. You said that you can't afford a professional, but you'll be spending as much or more money fixing it yourself, and likely will be more damaged and possibly discolored if not done by a professional.

Also, at the salon, they'll have to do a multiple process (removing the color, then coloring it blond). It would not be wise for a non-professional to do it because of the damage it will cause to your hair. At a salon, they'll be able to do it better, and without inflicting much damage on your hair.
