If you attempt to bleach your hair with "just stuff you find around the house," there is no doubt your hair will turn out bright orange and fried. Most people who attempt to bleach their hair by themselves at home even with professional products end up with orange-y and damaged hair. As for Kool-Aid, if you have very light blonde hair, you might be able to stain your hair for a day or so, but since Kool-Aid contains no chemicals, it will not stay. If you have dark hair, you could soak your hair in Kool-Aid all day, but you will not see any difference.

It's best to go to a professional if you want things to turn out the way you are picturing.

yes u can dye it with koolaid. It will be like using a semi permanent rinse which does not last very long. Because ur hair is so dark the color wont be the greatest. NOOO...bleach is like the worst thing u can do to ur hair. Yes u will get blond hair but the change from harsh black to blond could leave u with seriously damaged hair. THere is nothing around the house u could find to bleach ur hair where it will be even remotely noticeable. Sorry!

you can't rely on those charts on the side of store bought color. For all the professionals out there, I have to say, you need to be seen by stylist to decide what will produce the results you want and to get something really flattering and healthy. Anyone who has ever used the store bought kind will admit (or they are lying) that at some time it screwed up and didn't come out like they wanted. Get a professional opinion. I could tell you what to buy in a beauty supply store, but even then without seeing your hair, it could be dead wrong. We all have undertones to our hair, and some have color on their hair already and both of these and other reasons are why those charts don't work. You really have to know your stuff to get good results.

The stuff is amazing! Seriously..it'll start lightening within one day. I have light-ish blonde hair naturally, and within like 3 days of using it, my hair was already looking bleach blonde..well, close, but it looked very natural! I have never dyed my hair, but I wanted some highlights for summer, and I can't say enough about the product. What works the best, is to spray it into damp hair, either in streaks, wherever you want them, or all over if you want your whole head of hair lighter, comb it all through, and then blow dry it. For some reason blow drying it makes it ALOT lighter already. Then spending time in the sun realllly brings it out. But yeah, the best trick I've found is the blow dryer. Drying it makes the lightness come out ALOT faster! Just spray it in for a few days, until your hair gets the way that you want it to. Btw..I think theres a new kind out that uses lemon juice. I think that would be your best bet since your hair is a bit darker. I think that would work better for you to ensure that your hair doesn't do anything funky color-wise. I think you'll be ok though. How can I fix my hair??

If the colorist is good, you can get what you want. You should bring in the photo of Fergie and work with the colorist to determine if that color would work with your skin tone (even though you have a tan, your face is fairer with pinkish rose tones which indicates "cool" tones, and Fergie doesn't have this coloring -- she has "warm" tones to her skin). Her color may look too brassy/orange-y on you.

The ramifications of the wrong tone hair? All your imperfections will become obvious, any blemishes, etc.

Dying it lighter from a darker color shouldn't be a problem; the only difficulty would be to find a color that your hair would combine with to get the color you want. If nothing else, the colorist can "lift" (bleach) the color from your hair (this would make it lighter than the final color) and then "deposit" the color you want.

Personally, I think that having different shades of blonde makes hair much more interesting and "natural" (having the lightest shades on top).

It may be that the colorist you consulted did not have the level of skill to do the job. You need to find one that does, and possibly has before and after pictures of clients.

I went to the salon to have my hair dyed for the first time (profesianly) and it started out alright. However, she left the bleach (I was attempting to become blond) in for an hour at least. my scalp began to blister and by head felt as if it where on fire. Aside from all that when the horific xperince was over my hair was less than satisfactory. Not only am I not blond but when i wash my hair it look and feels like hay. What should I do? (I all ready took all the actions I could against the salon)

I wouldn't really try to dye your hair again anytime soon, unless you really want to be hurting. Wait a 6 weeks or longer before getting it dyed again... I would go talk to a dermatologist to see if everything is ok, or if he has any advice. Also when you bleach your hair you are drying it out, try a shampoo and conditioner to remoisterize, like Redken Extreme, or Dumb Blonde by TIGI. Next time, try to find a reputable salon, or go to someone your friends or family know does a good job. Hope you feel better, good luck.

one trick that will help is to towel dry before conditioner. i know i have typed this at lest a million and one times, but i know how well it works. so here it is again:

what ever products you are using, try this. it will help!

also try using ethnic haircare products. your hair is super dry and coarse - just like ethnic hair. i love mizani products and i have quite a few 'white' clients who use it.

that hairstylist didn't do her job correctly and for that i apologize. there is a bleach that is used for the scalp and it doesn't burn and it also doesn't take an hour to 'come up' to the level you needed.

as for the color, i don't know how porous your hair is so i can't tell you what to do about the color situation except go to a real salon (not the hair choppery) - one who specializes in color and ask if there is anything that can be done. they will check out the porosity of your hair, ask you some questions about what products you are using (color is usually guaranteed with purchase of haircare products), ask how much time you spend on 'doing' your hair, and give you some suggestions.

I have the exact same hair type as you. I straighten half the time, and go curly half the time.

To straighten, go to a Sally Beauty supply and buy an attachment called "Conair Pro Straight On" pik ($5). It attaches to a straight barrel hair dryer, and you comb your hair thru as it dries. If you live in a humid environment, put a TINY amount of bit of baby oil in your hair before you blow dry. DON'T apply to your roots though-- greasy!!

To go curly, when your hair is wet- right out of the shower, wring water out of hair and "rope" your hair into small sections. Don't separate the small sections, or you wind up with frizz! Spray some hairspray on the ropes, and you can blowdry on a low setting for a couple minutes, so your hair's not totally wet. Let the natural air-dry take your waves to ringlets. SOOO cute.

If neither turns out well, a ponytail, bun, or braids is always good backup.

You should flat iron it. But a chi flat iron! Awesome iron. I use it in my salon. Also buy a heat protectant/frizz free serum. Hope it works! Also DO NOT try the straigtening/frizz free shampoo's. THEY DONT WORK!

Put mouse in it. Get it all the way through and through your hair, then scrunch it up, so it looks curly. If you don't like the plain curls, put it in a pony.

conditioners wont do anythng.. use lemon and sit in sun for 20 minuites before taking a shower. this would lighten the colour of your hair.. use 2 tbsp of honey n 1 tbsp of viniger.. coat on hair for 20 mins and take a shower.. this would make them a little brown... also you can use tea beans and coffee with yogurt on your hair.. it'll make them brown in colour..

make a tea from sage, it will darken your hair (caution use an old towel) and chamomile gives it a yellower colour.

There are different levels of permanent, from semi (6-12 washes) to letting it grow out, depending on your needs. I don't know what shade of red hair you have and it would depend. I have really dark red hair so black would show up but it wouldn't be that drastic. Dye your whole head strawberry blonde and then underneath really dark brown. The colors should complement each other but still appear very bold. I would never do this to my own head, but if it is the look you are going for I think it would work out.

Professionally, this look is outdated now. Dimension in hair color is always in but drastic, two toned is not happening. If you have a lovely red then why not punch up your tone and perhaps drop your nape color a level or two but in the red family. It sounds like a really drastic change and a lot of effort to maintain. You may also end up looking really really fake. I'd say no. If you feel like doing something, try a few lighter highlights around your face (but not blond...looks like gray hair constrasted with dark brown). Unless there's a representative for the brand of hair color you used answering questions here, I would call the company. They usually have a 1-800 number on the box. That would be the safest way to go.

I once tried to lighten my hair by one shade. I'd dyed it a darker shade before that. When I dyed it the lighter color, I had a band of light where the new hair growth was, and the part that had already been dyed was still dark. I was upset. I called Clairol, and they said that the lightener would not work on hair that had already been dyed a darker color. So, I had to stick with the dark color until my natural hair grew out. Either that, or go to a salon and have the older hair bleached. I don't like going to salons and paying way too much money, so I just went back to the darker color again.

I have the same problem, or had it. When you curl it you must apply hairspray right after you curl it, I love Tresemme. And it's cheap. But make sure you do apply it from at least 12 inches away or else you'll well your style and it will droop. Also right after you curl it hold your curl up until it cools off. You can also try spraying hair spray on your hair before you curl and that works wonders. Also instead of just curling your hair to change it try some half-up half down styles, you really can change it up depending on how you arrange it.

Some of the hairs grow in light blond, almost as if white and others grow in light brown or darker. Any type of hair color will work, even if they have pictures of females on the box, lol. I'm naturally blonde but I dye my hair black because when I straighten it during the summer, it used to lose color and turn frizzy.

My hair is naturally a dark blond/light brown-ish color, but I usally dye it dark or medium brown. Once I tryed lightening it and I was supposed to put the dye on the roots for 10 minutes or something but messed up and so the roots were blond and the rest was the same color as it was. It's grown out a little and it bugs me so bad but I dont want to dye it anymore and damage it anymore than it already is. Can anyone give me any tips please?

i have been a hair dresser for 15 years and you should never try to do this at home. if it bugs you bad enough you can dye it back to brown or go see a stylist she will help you may i suggest a heavy highlight you will not see the part that buggs you any more

The reason this happened is because color will not lighten color that you put on your hair previously. The color lightened the roots, but not the ends. The best thing to do is get a darker semi-permanent color that will match the ends and put it all over. This will match the roots to the ends and gradually fade off in time. This will allow you to be able to grow your hair out without having two different colors in your hair. Also, go to a salon and have the ends cut. Try to cut off as much as possible to get rid of the darker ends. If you can afford it, go to a salon that does Redken color and ask for Redken Shades EQ. This is a very moisturizing color that helps add shine to your hair. Using a stylist to do your color will ensure that your hair ends up an even color. Also, get a good deep conditioner like Redken AllSoft Heavy Cream. Use this once a week for a few months and your hair will feel like new!

You can't make dyed dark hair go blonde with blonde dye alone. You would have to use something to take out the brown or use a bleach procuct to lighten the brown first. Go to a hair salon and let them fix your hair and then you can go back to doing it yourself after that.

Well u can try a rinse...it is not as damaging as the permanent colour and will cover up the mess but u will have to go with a shade darker than the hair at the bottom. you can try a product called VIA. It is water based...u know..its like shampooing ur hair. Leave for 30 minutes and wash out.

I went from brown to blonde, and let me tell you it reaks havoc on your hair!

When you dye your brown hair blonde it basically strips your hair of all protection. My hair is also curly, and I straighten it everyday, so I was basically killing my hair. It got really dry, and I had soooo many split ends. My hair actaully began to break. I dyed my hair back to light brown a month ago, and it is finally getting healthy again.

Don't get me wrong...being blonde was totally fun, but there are consequences. Basically it's up to how much you care about the health of your hair.

Your hairs gawjuz how it is!! Take into consideration that if you try and go from brown to blonde it can turn out a bit redish looking. So if you do slowly get lighter and lighter with the colour.

I think you're hair looks good the way it is. You did say you dye your hair a lot so your hair isn't in the best situation to be dyed a very strong color. Once you dye your hair blonde you can't really go back to brown because your hair will break, become dry, and start to fall out.

And don't listen to people who say blondes are much hotter. If you see most people are now dying their hair brown.

And if you go to the pool your hair will turn green from the chemicals and thats not something to be happy about.

Sun In is horrible for your hair. It will dry out your hair. You are better off using lemon juice if you have to give yourself highlights.

I used Sun-In a long time ago and it did turn my hair from dark blonde to very golden blonde.......you can use a blow dryer instead of the sun-light. You do have to do a few applications to get your desired blonde.

BUT.......it is very hard to change your hair color after you use it until it grows out. If you try to dye it another color it'll not turn out right (that's where the orange hair comes in!). I had to let the Sun-In'ed hair grow out enough to cut it off.

A very long process and I went awhile with two-toned hair, not attractive!

So be sure it's what you want to do if you use it.

I think it would look cute on you, and I know it was the wrong color, but I couldn't find any dirty blonde.

The style is called layered and possibly a bit of thinning, too. But both go really well with side bangs.

Also take a multi vitamin with biotin (a type of vitamin B) in it, it'll help your hair grow back faster.

The only thing that you can do is either shave the rest of your hair ( if your hair is really long, you obviously aren't going to do that) or go to a hairstylist and see what they can do. You will have to just wait it out, for your hair to grow a bit. Hair grows 1/2" - 1" per month, so it shouldn't take long for it to blend in. Wear a hat for now! That sucks though!Sorry! You might need to get some extensions put in to cover it? Go see a stylist and say you're interested in just a few extensions to thicken up your hair; not to add more length. Shouldn't be too expensive for just a small area.

you should get extensions either by getting a weave, gluing it on, or clip-ons. you don't necessarily have to buy real hair, because they're expensive. so you can go to a local swap meet or something and buy some there. its practically the same thing

Why don't you go %26amp; have some one fix it. Most girls that have long hair have the under side shaved; %26amp; the only way you notice is when they have their hair pulled up. If not just see if a professional can fix it. If not don't worry I have done it twice, but for me it doesn't matter because I wear a do rag anyway %26amp; no one knows. Your hair grows any way %26amp; if you can wear a cap or something to cover it up in the mean time do so.

I agree I would definitely go back and tell them you HATE that colour and to fix it. If you said blonde they should give you blonde. I hate those awful orange streaks they give brunettes all the time. I have pure BLONDE put in mine and I'm a brunette, the difference is she does it so thin and also puts in another reddy brown colour so that it ends up being 3 toned and not two....that is what makes it look good.

She should be able to use a toner or something on it to tone down the orange in it so go back to her and dont' let her charge you another penny. Tell her everyone is saying how awful it looks (even if that isn't so). She should care enough about her reputation to fix it.

It won't return to natural, you bleached it and dyed it. Sorry it's ruined till it grows out. But you can dye it back to a color that is similar to your natural hair color. Get a color that has a blue/violet or green base so it will get rid of the orange in your hair. Get a color at Sally Beauty, they are better quality, NEVER BUY A BOX DYE!

considering that its a bright orange color now, it will probably not turn out the color that its supposed to be on the box if you dye it again.

youre going to have to get an ash tone dye (ones with blue in it) to balance out the brassiness.

it might actually be a good idea to go to a stylist. maybe wait a few weeks for your roots to grow out a bit so that the stylist can see what color your hair is supposed to be.

Ackshully contrary to Liljomo you shouldn't try to comb it or straighten. Try a curly/Afro perm if you've got a lean face. You've got what is called tight hair. And trying frizz-ease is just greasing more chemicals to thin out and make your hair fall, trust me. But hey great beauty advise says you shouldn't read Cosmo mags coz they only make u feel ugly and don't listen to anyone but the flo of ur hair.P.S. You can't hate a part of ur body and still have it with u spiritually ever.Cheer up!

I had a similar problem. try washing it at night, I don't know why but when you wake up the next morning it won't be frizzy. Also try rubbing a few drops of olive oil onto your hands and then squeezing it onto the ends of your hair, that works too. Oh! another thing that works wonders is to walk around with thick rollers in your hair for a while after having washed it and dried it a little. Good luck!

My guess would be be careful on how you blow dry your hair. If your hair is curly, maybe you should spring for a diffuser and don't manipulate your hair so much while drying. Another option would be to let your hair air-dry while in a braided ponytail. Other option would be to use a silicone rich conditioner on the ends of your hair only and leave it in for about 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly. Then use a serum (if your hair is thick and dry) or some kind of light cream or spray to control the frizz. If your ends are frizzy, then it might be damaged. The only solution would be to snip it off. No need to waste money on treatments that only temporarily hide the problem *shrugs*.
