right now my hair is black and brown with blond roots
and I wand to dye it black with red bits.
what is the best way to get rid of some of the black bits?
could I just dye blond over spots, or do I have to strip the color out?

Hair dying help? Using a toner or dye over black dye won't do anything, unfortunately you would have to bleach or strip out the black dye. L'Oreal makes a haircolor remover that you can get at some drugstores and Ulta, but I think it's kinda rare since I don't see it often. I've seen diufferent ones at Sally's too. It's pretty damaging to your hair so make sure it's in good condition. I used to have allover black hair and anted it to be bright red again, so I have tried everything. The only thing that worked was stripping/bleaching. If there is any way you can get to a salon, I'd recommend that. I know it's expensive but it's better than having ruined hair. Maybe salons around you will do free consultations. Good Luck!

Hair dying help? I would reccomend going to a professional. You know what you want so now let someone who knows what they are doing do it. Stripping your hair is really harsh adn you could end up with fried hair.

Hair dying help? Hair stripping is more expensive than bleaching your hair and then putting new color in. However, I really destroyed my hair by dying and bleaching it over and over. So it really depends on if you want a quick fix or to protect your hair.
Hair dying help? go to a hairdressers because you'll ruin it if you do it yourself. it sound like you have alot of colour in your hair already so I wouldnt advise a hair stripper because if your hair is already black and you want it balck with red now just cover your roots ten add red to the bottom. avoid dying the whole hair if not nessesary as its already black, you just need your roots touched up
